Computer is slow or freezing
Quick checks that resolve most slowdowns before a technician needs to connect.

Most slowdowns come from a long uptime, low disk space, or a background update. Work through these steps in order and note what changes.
- Restart the computer fully (Restart, not Shut down) and sign back in.
- Close browser tabs and applications you are not using, then check Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) for anything using near 100% CPU, memory, or disk.
- Confirm at least 10% free space on the system drive. Empty the Recycle Bin and Downloads folder if it is tight.
- Install pending Windows or macOS updates and restart again.
If the computer freezes at the same moment every time (opening a file, printing, joining a call), tell us that detail — it usually points straight at the cause.
