When to use this: Send a file with AirDrop to someone you know — use these initial checks when this matches your situation. On a work or school device, follow your organization's policies and stop if a setting is managed.

  1. Confirm the intended recipient is nearby and ready.
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices.
  3. Have the recipient use Contacts Only when possible.
  4. Open the item, choose Share, then AirDrop, and select the confirmed recipient.
  5. Ask the recipient to confirm receipt.

Check the result: The intended person receives the intended file.

Stop and get help when needed: Check the recipient carefully. Do not accept unexpected files or use AirDrop to bypass workplace data-sharing rules.

Need hands-on help?: Request DefenderTech support for individualized investigation or changes. We will explain the scope and estimate and ask for authorization before paid work begins. Do not include passwords, recovery keys or verification codes in your request.
