Teams desktop on Windows or Mac

Help center

When to use this: Your camera does not appear in Teams — use these initial checks when this matches your situation. On a work or school device, follow your organization's policies and stop if a setting is managed.

  1. Check the camera’s privacy shutter.
  2. Close other apps that might be using the camera.
  3. Open Teams device settings and select the intended camera.
  4. Review your operating system’s camera permissions for Teams; allow access only if you intend to use it.
  5. Restart Teams and check the preview before joining.

Check the result: Your camera preview appears before you enter a meeting.

Stop and get help when needed: If permission controls are managed or unavailable, contact your organization. Do not disable device management.

Need hands-on help?: Request DefenderTech support for individualized investigation or changes. We will explain the scope and estimate and ask for authorization before paid work begins. Do not include passwords, recovery keys or verification codes in your request.
